Gatorade Beat the Heat: Lacy the Lumberjack

As part of the Gatorade Beat the Heat program, Packers running back Eddie Lacy received an introduction to lumberjack sports from competitive lumberjacks Shana Verstegen and Cassidy Scheer at the Paul Bunyan Northwood's Lumberjack Show in Wisconsin Dells, Wisc. Lacy tried his hand at pole climbing, the two-man cross cut saw and (his favorite) axe throwing.
In its 11th year, the Gatorade Beat the Heat program is an educational program that teaches youth athletes the importance of heat safety and staying hydrated during the hot summer months. Not only was Lacy equipped with a new skill set, but he also learned that lumberjack athletes compete in similar conditions and lose a lot of sweat while training and competing.
In addition to above, the full video is available on Gatorade's YouTube page: Lacy the Lumberjack
Sweat It to Get It

Gatorade “Sweat It to Get It” is an online video series that uses humor to convey that you have to work up a sweat to earn Gatorade. This year, J.J. Watt, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning visit college campuses and use hidden cameras to capture their interactions with unsuspecting students who are trying to get Gatorade without breaking a sweat.
In each video, the students attempt to purchase Gatorade from a vending machine. When it doesn’t dispense, a custodian (played by Rob Belushi, son of Jim Belushi) tips them off that they have to “sweat it to get it.” Enter either Peyton and Eli or J.J. to demonstrate to these students that they must be sweating in order to earn their Gatorade. If you want a Gatorade you're going to have to work for it — no exceptions.
In addition to above, all the videos are available on Gatorade's YouTube page: Gatorade Sweat It to Get It
Gatorade Beat the Heat: Jimmie Johnson Rides Watkins Glen

As part of the Gatorade Beat the Heat program, Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson gave a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into a race weekend for him and the Hendrick Motorsports 48 pit crew team on-site at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in Watkins Glen, N.Y. The sport of NASCAR has evolved over the years; now, drivers and their crew members make fitness, nutrition and hydration a big part of their preparation and routine to gain an edge on their competition.
Johnson specifically has adopted the sport of triathlon to help refine his car driving skills; endurance training both physically and mentally prepares him for the intensity of a race. Each race weekend, Johnson bikes and runs several miles between practice, qualifiers and the race to keep in top shape for driving his car. The NASCAR community has developed a group of crew members and drivers (approximately 15-20 people) who gather each race weekend for a long cycling ride, around 60 miles, to take in the surrounding area.
In its 11th year, the Gatorade Beat the Heat program is an educational program that teaches youth athletes the importance of heat safety and staying hydrated during the hot summer months. Aside from the outside temperatures, inside the car it can reach upwards of 100 degrees Fahrenheit during a race and the heat suits worn by drivers and crew members can result in them losing up to six pounds from sweat in a day. In order to maximize race-day performance, hydration is a key factor in the sport of NASCAR.
In addition to above, the full video is available on Gatorade's YouTube page: Jimmie Johnson Rides Watkins Glen

Celebrating Serena Williams' Greatness

The new digital video from Gatorade titled, "Unmatched," celebrates one of the most dominant athletes in sports, as Serena Williams seeks to win her 22nd Grand Slam singles title. In addition to above, the full “Unmatched” video is available on the Gatorade YouTube channel: Unmatched.
Additionally, artists from around the world created 21 pieces of art that celebrate each of Serena’s major wins. Appropriately titled, “Serena 21,” the 21 pieces of art were hand painted on a 13’ x 90’ outdoor wall on the south-facing corner of Kent Ave. and Grant St. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and each piece has a historical meaning to each of Serena’s Grand Slam titles.

Celebrating Gatorade's 50th Anniversary with University of Florida

In 1965, Gatorade was created at the University of Florida to help hydrate Gator football players whose energy was fading at the end of practices and games. With the weekend of October 3rd marking the brand's 50th birthday, Gatorade is celebrating during the Gators' home game against Ole Miss. Limited edition UF squeeze bottles will be on the Gators' sidelines to mark 50 years since Florida’s players first used Gatorade during a game. The anniversary is also being celebrated on social media with the hashtag #GatoradeUF.
Win From Within: The Series Season 2

In sports, the general public typically sees the end result of an athlete’s preparation when they compete on the field or the court or in the pool. More often than not, what isn’t seen are the obstacles that many athletes face, whether they’re situational, physical or emotional.
For the second straight season, Gatorade is producing digital shorts as part of “Gatorade Win From Within: The Series.” Each story features an inspirational competitive athlete who has achieved greatness against all odds and who embodies the “Win From Within” spirit, an inner drive to push and improve their performance daily.

When the game ends and the adrenaline levels baseline after a heart-pounding competition, an athlete’s job isn’t done. It’s the time to refuel an exhausted body with carbs and high-quality protein to help bring muscles back to life. The Gatorade “Recover Time” campaign offers a new, comedic look at post-game recovery with athletes like Cam Newton, Bryce Harper and Paul George. It's a reminder to all athletes that if it's not game time, it's Recover Time.
- “It’s Recover Time” features the Pacers’ Paul George, the Panthers’ Cam Newton and the Nationals’ Bryce Harper, each showing that no matter the activity, when it’s not game time, it’s recover time.
- "Play” features the Pacers’ Paul George playing video games during his recover time.
- “Sleep” features the Nationals’ Bryce Harper, who makes sure he recovers even if that means napping in the middle of the team locker room.
In addition to the above, all the videos are available on Gatorade's YouTube page: Gatorade | It's Recover Time.
Previous videos from these athletes also highlighted how these athletes recover.
- "Lucky Tank" features the Panthers' Cam Newton and Greg Olsen, showing the lengths Cam will go to in order to make sure he uses the correct tank for his ice baths.
- "Needs Ice" features the Nationals' Bryce Harper, who shows that ice meant to treat a sore shoulder can help his recovery in more way than one.
- “Too Much Fashion” features the Pacers' Paul George and Joe Young as Paul makes last-minute adjustments to ensure he looks the part in his post-game press conference.

Gatorade Gx Sports Fuel Customization

This year, Gatorade will introduce Gx, a sports fuel customization platform that will change the way athletes hydrate and fuel now and into the future. The Gx ecosystem combines science-backed products with newly designed equipment, and real-time biometric and tracking technologies to provide fueling recommendations specific to an individual athlete.
The new innovations include:
with Flipcap - Squeeze bottle (without tracking electronics) specifically designed for use with pods by including a water level marking, an integrated pod piercer and a flip cap for ease of operation
- Smart Cap - In development as an upgrade to the basic flipcap, this component utilizes fluid intake tracking and provides visual feedback directly to the athlete to pace hydration
- Pods - Accompanying the bottle will be a range of concentrated Gatorade formulas and flavors optimized for use with personalized hydration & fuel strategies
- Digital Sweat Patch - Provides ability for real-time hydration tracking (in conjunction with smart cap) to allow athlete to hydrate & re-fuel accordingly
- Future Food Forms - Gatorade is creating new food forms with new ingredients that will help address athlete preferences and fuel them during more parts of their day, including protein-enriched yogurt. These products will be available over the next several years.
The Gatorade Fuel Lab, which premiered at SXSW Interactive in Austin, Texas, provides an interactive showcase of these innovations. Included in the Fuel Lab is the Hydration Customization Room, which allows the opportunity to personalize a Gx bottle and customize the formula and flavor of the accompanying pods. The Fuel Lab also showcases the Locker Room of the Future, which provides a glimpse into the technology behind the Smart Cap Bottle and the Digital Sweat Patch, as well as demonstrating examples of customized fueling plans for elite athletes like J.J. JJ visited his hometown fire department in Pewaukee, Wisc. and tried his hand at the physical and technical training firefighters conduct in order to perform their daily duties which, as JJ points out, offer much greater consequences than he encounters on an NFL field.
The Beat the Heat program teaches youth athletes the importance of heat safety and staying hydrated during the hot summer months, which JJ needed to do plenty of as he pulled water hoses, climbed flights of stairs and put out fires – all in 86-degree weather in full firefighter gear that added to his 6-foot-5 289-pound frame.
